Electrical Plus Mechanic/Field Technician

Job summary:

The Field Technician will serve as the primary employee on jobs in the field with customers.  They will be required to have a wide range of knowledge in both residential and commercial electrical wiring and codes.  The Field Tech. will run jobs from start to completion including collection of payment when applicable.

This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.

Job duties and essential functions:

• Handle Electrical work in residential and commercial environments.

  • Own the job.  Work should be complete and in full working order.

  • Clean up job site.  It should look better than when the crew arrived.

  • Exceptional customer service.

• Enter all required information in the House Call system.

• Responsible for maintaining correct inventory in the Van for upcoming and ongoing jobs

• Relay proper information to the support team regarding; special orders, scheduling, and add-on work.

• Maintain the appearance of the Van (Inside and Out)

• Help maintain the Shop for both appearance and safety

Skills and qualifications:

• Level of expertise that requires minimal oversite  

• Ability to manage jobs independently

• Ability to work extended hours and provide timely responses to customers and employees during non-traditional hours.

• Valid Driver’s License and ability to travel to customer sites, vendors, and suppliers.

• Strong work ethics, ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

The physical requirements are high.  This is a physical position that could require long hours of standing, squatting, kneeling, or bending.  The conditions may also involve working in tight spaces with varied temperatures. This person must have good communication skills and the ability to work in tandem with a variety of audiences and personalities.

This person must also be able to work independently, be able to investigate and resolve problems and self-critique as he/she works and take the initiative to seek and find solutions as needed. This person frequently works with others, around others, and will have customer and vendor contact.

Must be able to:

• Sit in a stationary position daily for periods of time (up to 2 hours at a time)

• Stand, squat, kneel or bend for periods of time.

• Be able to work on a ladder or in the air on a Bucket Truck.

• Be able to lift up to 75 pounds.

• Use hearing sufficiently to accurately perceive information in loud environments.

• Ability to travel to customer and vendor locations.
